Gitxaala Environmental Services (GES) is actively recruiting for an Administrator Support worker to join our team in Prince Rupert, BC, and who is interested in joining a growing environmental and marine services consultancy.
We're looking for candidates with a diploma or degree in business administration, natural resources management, or who have equivalent experience. The ideal candidate would have at least one year of experience in a similar position.
This job requires a self-starter with attention to detail and flexibility in assisting both technical and management staff. Our team is situated across British Columbia with a focus on coastal project work involving environmental management, studies, and monitoring.
The successful candidate will be focused on office and equipment coordination, supporting the management team with human resources functions, and tracking staff training and certifications. The role will provide a dynamic and exciting opportunity for career and professional growth alongside our team of environmental professionals.
This is a part-time, permanent position. It is anticipated that hours will fluctuate with and range between 20 and 25 per week generally during normal business hours. Opportunities for additional hours may be possible.
The wage for this position is $22.50 to $27.50 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Only candidates currently resident and legally able to work in Canada will be considered for this position. An initial interview will be organized for selected candidates. This posting will remain open until filled.
Duties
- Maintaining a tidy, well stocked, and organized office space;
- Support the management of GES leased staff accommodations , including scheduling and assisting staff check ins and check outs;
- Ordering and tracking equipment and consumables;
- Maintaining inventories for office and technical equipment, including equipment assigned to personnel;
- Support management with purchasing;
- Support management team in various human resources functions including but not limited to onboarding, performance management, tracking staff training and certifications, payroll administration, etc.;
- Adherence to company and client Health and Safety and Quality Assurance / Quality Control programs. Maintain positive attitude towards implementing health and safety systems;
- Assist and participate in training and capacity building initiatives for company staff and Gitxaala members; and
- Work collaboratively and constructively with a variety of technical project and management staff and contractors in a team-oriented setting.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience (1 to 3 years) in performing administrative support functions;
- A diploma or degree in business administration or natural resources management, or equivalent experience;
- Experience with monitoring instrumentation an asset;
- An interest in environmental management and monitoring considered an asset as opportunities to grow in this field are possible; and
- Access to a personal vehicle and have a valid BC class 5 driver’s license is considered a strong asset.
