Duty Manager

Crest Hotel in Prince Rupert

222 1 Avenue West Prince Rupert BC

Description

The Crest Hotel, a proudly Gitxaala Nation–owned business, operated by the Gitxaala Enterprise Corporation, is looking for a dedicated Duty Manager to join our management team on a full-time basis for a 4-month contract, with the opportunity for a permanent position following a successful review. This role is a full-time position with 40 work hours per week, including some flexible availability for the evenings and weekends.

As a leading hotel in Prince Rupert, BC, we are committed to excellence in guest experience, team development, and community engagement, and that initiative is driven by all our staff, but especially our managers. As a Duty Manager, you will play a key leadership role, providing on-site management oversight across the hotel, including the front desk, events, and lounge operations during peak hours. You will work closely with department heads to support daily operations, staffing, and guest service excellence. As such, this role requires strong team management skills as well as excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

We are looking for someone with at least 3 years of experience as a manager or supervisor and who can act as a liaison between the staff and senior management and cover for key leadership roles when necessary. Leadership experience is a necessity since the successful candidate will assist in the hiring, training, supervision, and, when necessary, disciplinary, processes. The Duty manager will support department leaders with scheduling, payroll, and operational planning as well, so proficiency in scheduling, payroll systems, and operational software is also a requirement.

If you feel this role is right for you, please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience and interest in the role. We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in hotel or hospitality management required.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in scheduling, payroll systems, and operational software.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
