We are hiring an Events Manager to work with us at the Chances Casino in Prince Rupert, BC.
The Events Manager will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing all group events, including conferences, trade shows, weddings, corporate events, and more. This newly created role integrates both venues with a unified booking system to host joint events seamlessly, ensuring exceptional experiences for all clients. So the ideal candidate will have exceptional communication and organization skills, the ability to work well under pressure in fast-paced environments, and the ability to work independently and multi-task as well as the strong leadership experience needed to manage the events teams and collaborate with related departments.
The role is integral to the successful relaunch of the convention centre and will serve as the primary point of contact for group event bookings. Due to the importance of the position, we are looking for someone with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in event coordination, ideally in hospitality, and with extensive experience in the food and beverage industry, catering for large groups.
This is a full-time, in-person position with 40 hours of work per week although those hours could be outside of a standard schedule depending on which events are occurring during the week.
Duties
- Event Coordination: Lead the planning and execution of various events such as conferences, trade shows, weddings, corporate events, and private functions.
- Booking Management: Handle all group event booking inquiries, ensuring that both the Crest Hotel and Convention Centre venues are properly integrated for joint event scheduling.
- HR Leadership: Manage and coordinate human resources for the relaunch of the convention centre, ensuring staffing levels align with event demands.
- Collaboration: Work closely with hotel managers and the front desk to ensure smooth operations, including group booking rates, room accommodations, and catering needs.
- Client Relations: Serve as the main contact for clients, providing exceptional service throughout the booking and event execution process.
- Budget Management: Help set event budgets and ensure that events are planned and executed within financial parameters.
- Team Management: Oversee a small team and provide guidance, leadership, and motivation to ensure a high standard of event service.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in event coordination or management, ideally within a hospitality setting.
- Strong leadership experience, including managing teams and collaborating with multiple departments.
- Extensive experience in the food and beverage industry, specifically in catering for large groups.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at once.
Extras
This position is in-person.
Benefits
$80,000 per year, plus performance incentives up to 25% base salary based on profitability and participation in a net profit share pool program.
