Description
We are looking for an energetic and dedicated Flooring and Cabinet Sales Manager to join our team full-time at RONA Tyee Building Supplies in Prince Rupert, BC.
The successful candidate will be responsible for selling a variety of flooring products to both retail and commercial customers, and therefore requires an in-depth knowledge of flooring features, installation, and performance. They will also be responsible for selling cabinetry and will need to understand the materials used and how they affect performance.
Responsibilities for this position include assisting customers in making the best choices for their flooring needs, providing detailed information about our products, and ensuring a seamless purchasing process. As such, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are important as well as customer service and negotiation skills, with a capacity for building lasting relationships with those customers.
A strong understanding of sales principles and the ability to achieve sales targets are essential, and the successful candidate will need to participate in sales meetings, training sessions, and industry trade shows as part of their work in this position as well as prepare and submit sales contracts and orders.
Our ideal candidate has a firm knowledge of interior design principles, a keen eye for detail and proficiency in design software like 2020 or similar as they will be designing kitchen spaces within customers' budget limitations, and taking into account their design preferences and needs. Therefore, it's important to stay up to date on product knowledge and industry trends.
This is a full-time position with 40 hours of work available per week. The starting wage is $18.25 per hour or can be negotiated based on experience. We prefer candidates with at least one year of experience in flooring, cabinetry, home improvement, or retail sales.

Duties
- Know of all types of flooring, installation procedures and performance.
- Identify potential customers and initiate contact for sales opportunities.
- Understand the different materials used in cabinet manufacturing.
- Consult with clients to determine needs and preferences.
- Provide product information, advice and assistance to customers to guide their purchasing decisions.
- Demonstrate products and assist customers with product selection.
- Prepare and submit sales contracts and orders.
- Resolve customers' complaints or issues promptly and professionally.
- Meet or exceed sales targets.
- Stay updated on product knowledge and industry trends.
- Participate in sales meetings, training sessions and industry trade shows.
- Meet with clients to gather design requirements, preferences, and budget limitations.
- Create detailed drawings and layouts of cabinet design using design software.
Qualifications
- Previous sales experience, preferably in the flooring industry.
- Knowledge of different flooring materials and their characteristics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with customers.
- Excellent customer service and negotiation skills.
- Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
- Ability to design functional and attractive kitchen layouts.
Education
There are no formal education requirements for this position, including university or college degrees, diplomas, or certificates. Skill and experience are more important for this role.
