Description
We're hiring a Maintenance Worker to join our team at the Crest Hotel in Prince Rupert, BC.
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Worker inspects and maintains the general upkeep of the Crest Hotel facility. You will address immediate operational and/or safety concerns while reporting major repairs to management. This is a versatile, hands-on role requiring knowledge and skills across multiple building systems, including, but not limited to heating, cooling, ventilating, plumbing, and electrical systems.
Responsibilities for this position include maintenance tasks like inspecting and maintaining the property according to a schedule, inventorying parts and equipment, coordinating work orders, maintaining the grounds, and notifying management about any repairs that are too large to address directly or upgrades to building operating systems that need to be made. The successful candidate will also need to ensure all manufacturer requirements are met and all installations, repairs, and maintenance are done to code and meet environmental protection standards.
We're looking for someone with 3 years of experience working with low and medium voltage equipment and 3 to 5 years of experience with casino or hotel resort operations, who has a working knowledge of the tools and equipment needed to perform building maintenance. Further responsibilities for this position include working with electrical systems ranging from low to medium voltage levels, maintaining work areas and ensuring your equipment is free of safety violations. Safety is particularly important to us, and having an advanced understanding of emergency procedures, casino rules, and regulations, and OHS safety rules is critical.
This is a fast-paced environment, and the successful candidate needs to be able to perform well under pressure. Ideally, we'd like to see candidates with experience managing highly confidential information with discretion and care, and who are able to work independently, exercising good judgement, and prioritizing work with little direction.
There is a physical component to this position that requires all candidates be able to push, pull, and lift heavy objects, including boxes filled with currency on a consistent basis, perform heavy manual labour, stand and walk for long periods of time, and bend, stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items consistently.
The Crest is a hotel and so the successful candidate would need to be available to work some days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This is a full-time position with 40 hours of work available per week with an hourly wage of $23.80.
