Description
Gitxaała Forestry is recruiting a contracted Second Cook on behalf of Lemare Forestry Ltd. to join a logging camp near Prince Rupert, BC. Gitxaała Forestry partners with leading forestry companies to support sustainable operations throughout northwest British Columbia. As a member of our camp team, you'll help provide quality meals that keep crews energized and operations running smoothly.
The Second Cook is responsible for assisting the head cook with daily meal preparation and maintaining high standards of food service for the forestry camp's staff. Meals must be prepared in accordance with FoodSafe standards, and we require that the Second Cook have a valid FoodSafe Certificate.
Other responsibilities for this position include supporting menu planning, grocery orders, and inventory management as required. Additionally, the Second Cook is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, assisting with dishes, food storage, and lunchroom setup. The successful candidate may also occasionally be asked to cover the head cook's duties when required.
This position includes physical duties and requires the successful candidate to safely lift and move up to 50 lbs throughout their shift.
No prior experience as a camp cook is required, although it is considered an asset. A Red Seal Cook Certification or equivalent qualification is considered an asset but is not required for this position.
This position pays $40.91 per hour and follows a 14/14 rotation. Accommodations and meals are provided while on site.
