Janitor

Chances Casino in Prince Rupert

240 West 1st Avenue Prince Rupert BC

Description

Chances Prince Rupert is hiring a Janitor to work part-time in our casino in Prince Rupert, BC.

Reporting the Security and Facility Manager, the Janitor is responsible for ensuring a clean and safe environment for all guests and staff. The person in this position cleans the casino floor, convention centre, lounge, and all associated support areas in the back of the house. In this role, you would be responsible for project cleaning and all customer identified needs within expertise. The ultimate responsibility is to ensure that the customer is impressed with the cleanliness of the facility, adding to each patron's exceptional experience.

Aside from cleaning and sanitizing, the Janitor is responsible for removing and disposing of trash and cardboard, completing inventory checks and making supplies requests when needed, using the appropriate chemicals and cleaning materials for different materials and messes, maintaining work areas and ensuring equipment is free of safety violations, keeping a janitorial log, and of course, reporting any hazardous conditions or broken equipment immediately to management.

We do require that all staff members be at least 19 years of age and able to pass a criminal record check through the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB). We would love to see candidates with WHIMIS certification and Appropriate Response Training Level 1 as well.

This position does require a general knowledge of cleaning and cleaning equipment as well as the ability to read and understand labels and instructions as well as strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and with good judgement.

The position is in a casino so the successful candidate needs to be comfortable working in dim lighting with bright, flashing lights and with loud noises. This is a part-time position with anywhere from 20 to 30 hours of work available each week, but we do require that the janitor be available for weekends, evenings, and holidays.
